Friday 21st April, 7:45PM – stick it in your diary! We are screening the pick of the Animations screened at CPIFF since 2010 with an emphasis on the earlier films.

We are at the magnificent grade 2 listed Stanley Halls, 12 South Norwood Hill, SE25 6UB. Animation Night usually sells out so please get your tickets early. Also it is a fund raiser for CPIFF 2017 so do support us, the more the merrier.

MAN STABBED IN GIPSY HILL INCIDENT

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in Lambeth.

Police were called at 12:19hrs on Monday, 27 March to reports of an assault in Battenberg Walk, Gipsy Hill, SE19.

Officers attended and found a 20-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. London Ambulance Service attended and took the victim to a south London hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Police believe two male suspects are involved.

Detective Constable Richard Mosford from Lambeth CID said: “This was a frenzied attack that has left the victim with serious injuries. As a result, there will be an increased police presence in the local area for reassurance.

“We would appeal for any witnesses or anyone who has information about the attack to contact Lambeth CID so we can bring those responsible to justice.”

Onto the meats and we’ll have some of our classics – smoked duck, chicken and cured beef-rib, but we’ve got some stunning little air-dried charcuterie as well – Coppa and Speck. Finally we have limited edition marmalades; our rich bitter-sweet Seville Orange and the return of our zesty fresh Sicilian Lemon Marmalade.”

Wine Scouts: A good excuse to drink tasters all day

Wine – Wine Scouts Natural wines, championing established and emerging producers who work on tiny estates across Europe producing organic, biodynamic and low-intervention wines. Pedro says “We’ll open a beautiful white wine from the Basque Country in Northern Spain. This is what they drink in the tabernas of Bilbao and San Sebastián with their delicious tapas and pinchos. Txakoli de Getaria Armeztoi: fine and sophisticated fragrance of green apples and grapes. The palate bursts with citrus and exotic fruits. And it has cheerful bubbles. Yum!”

Storecupboard refills – The Store Cupboard Sarah says, “Good news for Vegans –bioD is back!  We’ve done a bit more research and can’t ignore the fact that bioD comes out ahead of Ecover in every category in the latest Ethical Consumer survey so despite the plastic we’ve decided we’ve got to have it back.  Apologies to any Ecover stalwarts – we do still have some Laundry Liquid, Fabric Conditioner and Multisurface Cleaner so come and fill up while stocks last.

The Foodbank – collection point at the market every week. They currently need washing up liquid, clothes washing powder, tinned carrots, UHT custard and tinned meat (not pork).  Latest drop off (Tuesday 28 March) 28 kilos.  Total donated so far 1294.7kg.

GET YOUR MOTOR RUNNING – IT’S MOTORSPORT AT THE PALACE!

Get your motor running for London’s Motorsport at the Palace, a two-day event celebrating all eras of motoring, on Sunday 27th and Monday 28th August 2017.

Held at Crystal Palace, one of the oldest venues used for racing in the world and the first place from which live televised motor-racing was ever broadcast, the event attracts motorsport fans, classic car and bike enthusiasts and thousands of visitors looking for a fun family day out over the bank holiday weekend.

At the heart of the event is the motorsport. Using parts of the iconic racing circuit that still runs throughout the park the two day sprint will showcase racing cars from all eras ranging from prewar leviathans to modern day supercars. Get up close and personal to a heady mix of metal in the shows paddock area before watching the cars tear off down the strip in the hope of beating the lap record as the likes of Sir Stirling Moss and James Hunt have done before them.

The show field will house hundreds of classic cars and bikes as more than forty clubs and their members display their pride and joys. Live music, trade stands, fun fair rides, children’s entertainers, stunt performers and food stalls complete the mix.

Tickets are now on sale, with adults passes from £12 when booked in advance. NEW FOR 2017 – Children under 15 go free when accompanied by a paying adult. 1st Prize to David Nicholls for his photo of ‘St Bartholomew’s Church’, 2nd Prize to George Gannon’s reflective ‘Istanbul’ and 3rd Prize to Steve Myles for his portrait, ‘Count Pierre’.

In our Young Person’s Category joint place are Charlotte Purves from Sydenham high school for her photo of ‘Poppy’ her Cockapoo and Reginald Senelorm’s ‘Puddle’ from Forest Hill boys.  All our winners are featured on our Facebook page.

Charlotte also won the People’s Choice overall voted by you the public. Congratulations to all our winners and special thanks to all of the contributions submitted.

If you missed our shortlisted entries, My Photo, Our Sydenham, along with our travelling exhibition has moved to Sydenham Community Library.
