THE PARK RE-SURFACED / MP AT SORTING OFFICE CLOSURE PROTEST / BOOK CLUB AT MEDITERRANEA / SOUTHWARK NATURE RESERVES
The Park – the unmade road opposite the Queens hotel on Church Road has been Tarmacadamed by Croydon council.
A council spokesman told News From Crystal Palace: “The surface of The Park had fallen into disrepair and a decision was taken to fill the pot holes that had formed.
“But the condition of the surface was worse than had been initially estimated, and resurfacing of the entire surface proved to be the most efficient and cost-effective option.”
The Park leads into Stambourne Woods.
MP AT SORTING OFFICE CLOSURE PROTEST
Helen Hayes MP will be joining local residents to protest against the planned closure of the West Norwood Royal Mail delivery office on Windsor Grove SE27 tomorrow (Saturday).
Royal Mail is currently planning to close the office on Windsor Grove, and move services to Anerley. Residents are extremely concerned about this, and were able to voice this at a well-attended public meeting on the issue recently hosted by Helen Hayes MP in the Portico gallery, Knights Hill.
Residents will gather at 12.45pm tomorrow (Saturday 22nd April) at the delivery office to show Royal Mail their dissatisfaction with the plans, and support the campaign to prevent the closures.
Helen, who is Labour MP for Dulwich and West Norwood, said: “I am extremely concerned about the impact these proposals will have locally, and particularly about what these changes will mean for elderly and disabled residents, and parents with small children.
Two buses simply to collect undelivered parcels, oversized letters and recorded delivery post will have a serious impact on the daily lives of West Norwood residents. “I strongly encourage local residents with concerns about these plans to come along on Saturday to make their voices heard.”
