Manager Elizabeth says, “We’re having another of our supermarket collections on the 30th November and the 1st/2nd December to help restock our shelves and provide food for Christmas. This is going to be essential as our figures out this week show we have had over 1000 additional clients in first 6 month compared to last year and so we are feeding lots people. Come and volunteer for 2 hours to help us fill all the slots. We’re hoping some of those on your social media might also be able to help. If in next few days you are able to share this would be amazing. Sign up here to volunteer at the Tesco Streatham and here for Brixton Acre Lane store. We soak them in fine Pedro Ximénez sherry, before folding them into our traditional pudding recipe with plenty of warming spices, and then giving each one a long, slow steam. We then feed them with liberal glugs of aged VSOP calvados, before wrapping them beautifully, all ready for Christmas. We also have a very limited number of puddings that have been matured for a minimum of 12 months for an outstanding flavour – look out for the ones wrapped in black and bronze.
Meanwhile, our handmade Christmas cakes feature bourbon-soaked figs and cherries, plenty of pecans, and delicate spice. Once baked, they’re given regular splashes of even more bourbon to get it (and you) into the Christmas spirit. Choose a cake topped with shimmering glazed fruits and nuts upon a fine dark chocolate slab, or a version with more traditional marzipan, royal icing and charming robin decoration. View the range and order in advance at http://www.brettandbailey.co.uk/christmas. This weekend’s cakes include Top Banana, chocolate Guinness, double carrot, plum crumble, apple and salted caramel, and a rich baked mocha cheesecake.
