Whilst visiting an artist local to the community, her daughter came running out of the kitchen excitedly offering me a piece of cake her mother told me she had baked the night before.

The enthusiasm this little girl showed towards her creation inspired me and got me thinking, why not arrange a Christmas Creation Bake-Off Competition at the Upper Norwood Library Hub.

So the competition day will be on 9th December with applications to enter closing on 27th November.

There will …be two age categories. 5-7 and 8-11. Prizes will be given to the winners and there will be a judging panel on the day with retired senior citizens also invited for afternoon tea to experience what the young children have created .

So start Christmas celebrations early and get your budding baking little ones involved by filling in the application and returning it to the Upper Norwood Library Hub.

Lewisham council are once again offering people the opportunity to park free of charge on the Saturdays leading up to Christmas.
Shoppers will be able to park free of charge all day in all council-run car parks in Blackheath, Catford, Deptford, Forest Hill, Lewisham and Sydenham on Saturday 2, 9, 16 and 23 December.

The start of the free parking offer falls on 2 December – the traditional start of the Christmas shopping rush – and also the UK’s Small Business Saturday which is a national campaign to encourage people to shop in their local high streets in the run up to Christmas.
