FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD! – screening at Crystal Palace food market tomorrow (Saturday):

Organic veg, fruit, meat, fish, eggs, raw milk, butter, vegan, cakes, gluten free, bread, pastries, preserves, olive oil, store cupboard refills (herbs, tea, flours, rice, nuts, oils), eco cleaning refills, salads, wraps, lunch, coffee & food bank collection

Guest lunch – Ricochez Three different types of sausage rolls, baked fresh & hot at the market

Vegan lunch – The Good Karma Kitchen Vegan lunch from local community group.

Lunch – Meru Galettes Sweet crepes or savoury buckwheat galettes. The special this month is vegan to celebrate Veganuary.

Lunch & deli – Comfort & Joy Hot tasty wraps, salads and those famous (enormous) scotch eggs plus takeaways – curries, lasagne and more.

 

Owl Kitchen: Gluten free lemon & raspberry sandwich

Gluten free – Owl Kitchen Mel is making “Vegan banana and courgette cake, vegan peanut butter squares, vegan chocolate avocado cake, carrot cake, chocolate brownies, peanut butter squares, sausage rolls, lemon and raspberry sandwich, dairy free purple velvet torte.”

Preserves – Creative All Sorts Christine says “‘Apart from all the other deliciousness, I have two special treats for Saturday:

1) Special South Indian Style Lemon Pickle tasters served with Simply Tay’s dhal. Come and try. It’s delicious, addictive, vegan, and (hallelujah) sugar-free!

2) To get you organised ahead of Valentine’s day (yes, already!), I’ll be bringing some little gift bags containing 110 ml jars Strawberry Jam, 110ml Chilli & Red Pepper Jelly, and a lovely Rose Scented Lip Balm.  See you there!.

Smokery – London Smoke & Cure Ross says “We’re looking forward to another great day at the market. The lovely Sam will be on the stall this week tending to your cured meat and cheese needs. We’ve got some nice new treats this week including the locally made Perinelli that some of you have been asking about. Made just down in Penge and using beautiful free range Devon pork its a real winner.

We’ve also got a our normal range of classic, best quality cheeses including an unctious triple cream brie (very naughty) and a super 18 month Comte that rightfully deserves its place at the top table.

Partnering all that will be our very own sashimi-grade smoked salmon and packs of hot smoked pork belly, you’ll not be left wanting.”

The Store Cupboard: Refill herbal teas

Storecupboard refills – The Store Cupboard   We are restocked with oats, nuts and ACV.  As always, you can buy as much or as little as you need. We love people who bring their own containers.

Meat – Gill Wing Farm Andrew says “Hello everyone. I’ve made some haggis, plus I’ll have all the normal top quality products chicken- breast drums thighs, Pevensey Marsh grass fed lamb, merguez, Sussex 33 day matured beef topside and triple mince, beef sirloin, rump, some great fillet, shoulder of pork, leg loin, steaks, venison sausages.”

Cheese & charcuterie – Capo Caccia  Antonio says “We’re all about artisan food from Sardinia, from smoked Pecorino Fiore sardo to bottarga mullet roe. Myrtle salami Truffle caciotta blue cheese and gold brown row honey to go with flat and crisp sardinian bread pane carasau.”

Raw milk, butter & other dairy – Hook & Son Organic raw milk and dairy, from farmer Steve’s closed herd on the Pevensey Levels.  They’ve just been featured on Channel 4, “A Year on the Farm” – check it out here.  NEW on the stall is organic Labneh – middle eastern inspired yoghurt – find it alongside their divine ghee, raw cream and butter.

 

Brett & Bailey: Rhubarbara Streisand

Cakes – Brett & Bailey  Joe says “Here’s the not-so-skinny…  If there’s one thing January needs more of, it’s glamour – so this weekend we’ve managed to coax our very favourite diva, Rhubarbra Streisand, out of retirement and back onto the cake parade. This delectable almond gateau is layered with tender Yorkshire rhubarb and rose-scented buttercream, and topped with melt-in-the-mouth meringues. Her latest farewell tour begins this Saturday – come along early, as she’s bound to sell out fast.

We’ll also have some brand new squares of raspberry and lemon sponge with pistachio crumble; a baked blueberry and lemon cheesecake; triple chocolate cookies; peanut butter bars; plus old favourites including chocolate Guinness cake, double carrot cake, and a pistachio and honey gateau scattered with bee pollen and raspberry crumbs.

You can also expect a big batch of semlor (again, don’t leave it too long to head down for one as we had some disappointed faces last week); salted chocolate brownies; soft and buttery cardamom knots; and a basketful of sticky buns.

Plus! Great Taste Award-winning marmalade, one or two of jars of homemade lemon curd, and four other flavours of our finest handmade jam.

Bread – Levain Bakery Ciabatta, ciabattini, walnut and raisin bread, olive bread, 5 cereals, green olive bread sticks, Danish rugbrod, tomato and oregano, Paillassou, pain de Meteil, spelt, Kentish flute, belle pavot, white loaf, wholemeal load, focaccia, rye sour, cottage cob. Chris Masembe and his team at Levain Bakery have a simple philosophy; to make artisan breads to the highest possible standards. All breads are sourdoughs, and are made using their own sourdough starter, a labour of love which they have kept going since they first started the bakery.  Find Orlo or Kuba on the bread stall in the Courtyard.
