The Edible Garden
We’ll be getting started on Spring planting in the Edible Garden this month – time to look ahead to broad beans, tomatoes and more summer delicacies. Come and join us on Saturday mornings – no gardening experience needed. This month we’re meeting on Saturday February 10 and Saturday February 24, from 10.30am till about noon. The Edible Garden is in the corner of Westow Park – see the map here:

St Johns Meadow Garden
The St Johns Meadow garden has done well to come back from being behind hoardings. The garden was closed off for sometime while the St Johns Church sorted out the subsidence from the Cherry trees undermining the walls. It was touch and go for the church for a while, but now the hoardings are down and the garden was worked on for some months last year. We grew potatoes, tomatoes, saffron (this last not very successfully, as we only had one flower!). We also now have an extra bit ground dug over and hopefully some more fruit trees in that area to go with the lovely little plum tree, already there.
We could with a few more volunteers – come and help us grow fruit and vegetables, that you can help harvest and take home. There is nothing like the taste of home grown veggies.

This exciting initiative, where people will be able to borrow things they need at affordable rates will be launching this Spring. It’s now developed into an exciting three-way partnership between Crystal Palace Transition Town, The Library of Things and Upper Norwood Library Hub ! We have been planning practical and marketing steps and you’ll be hearing a lot more soon !
As well as the borrowing offer CP Library of Things will offer a range of skill-share events to tie in with the borrowing, including these 2 great events in February:

You can bring along one item you’d like repaired and let’s see if we can fix it together!  If we can’t sort it on the day, we might be able to help you order the missing part.
As this is our first event we are inviting fixers and enthusiastic volunteers to come together beforehand to help make it happen. Join our new facebook group Crystal Palace Fixers to get involved
