The Norwood Society’s latest project ‘MyHouseMyStreet’ continues to grow.

Locals are now researching the histories of the following roads:

There will be further meetings on Sunday on April 29th and May 20th at 2 p.m. in Upper Norwood Library for anyone wishing to have support with research and to access resources available in the library.

A message from Hook & Son “Thank you Crystal Palace for your support!  We hope to be up and running with our organic, grass-fed, single herd pasteurised milk very soon, unfortunately not for this weekend.  However we will have: butter, ghee and dairy beef available.”

Guest lunch – Ricochez West Norwood based Richard is serving up shredded lamb in flatbreadswith mint salad and Bloody Mary ketchup.  The lamb is farmed on the Romney Marshes giving it that extra flavour.  

Lunch – Meru Galettes  Made by Gabriel and Michelle. Did you know the galettes are naturally gluten free?

Lunch & deli – Comfort & Joy Hot tasty wraps, salads and those famous (enormous) scotch eggs plus takeaways – curries, lasagne and more.

British flowers – Into the Wild   Jenny says “We have British tulips grown by Smith and Munson based in Lincolnshire and the first of the British Ranunculus along with spring blossom. Come along and support the British flower growers.”

Local honey – P Honey Raw honey from Percy’s bees.

Cakes – Brett & Bailey  Joe says “The spring collection is in full swing – come and try a slice of raspberry and  lemon cake with white chocolate and pink peppercorn buttercream; blueberry and lemon curd bakewells; bomboloni with pistachio cream or raspberry ripple fillings; or a generous slice of our baked white chocolate and passion fruit cheesecake.

We’ll also have Top Banana cake with salted dulce de leche and banana milkshake buttercream; salted chocolate brownies; double carrot cake; chocolate Guinness cake; moreish triple chocolate cookies; cardamom knots and sticky buns. We’ll also have plenty of peanut butter with a layer of thick milk chocolate ganache, salted caramel and plenty of salted peanuts. Heaven.

All this and plenty of jars of homemade jams and lemon curd, Great Taste Award-winning marmalade, and copies of the South London Cook Book featuring yours truly.

Gluten free – Owl Kitchen Mel is making us “Sweet – carrot cake, brownies, luscious lemon and raspberry sandwich, flourless chocolate lime drizzle cake.  Savoury – mini quiche and hopefully…fingers crossed,sausage rolls. Sugar free – sticky date and apple cake.  Vegan – banana and courgette cake, cherry and almond brownies, peanut butter squares, chocolate avocado cake.”

Cheese & charcuterie – Capo Caccia  Antonio says “This Saturday we’ve a tris of blue cheese: Ovinforth Bluesard and Crablu plus a brand-new one only for Crystal Palace customers. A new entry! Chilli goat cheese yep! On the meat side, truffle salamino, ash salami and red wine cured sausage, plus our traditional pasta fregola and pane carasau.”

Preserves – Creative All Sorts  Christine says “My Little Piccalilli family is growing! The Classic Perfect Piccalilli and Romanesco Cauliflower based Pick-a-Lily Savage have been joined by Chillililli! The addition of green & red chillies gives the classic gingery mustard sauce a warmth without a trace of uncomfortable burn. The addition of apples to the mix adds a lovely lightness.

Lots more jammy-ness too – including three kinds of strawberry jam and a return of Lemon & Juniper Marmalade. Almost forgot – Pickle season is on! This week I have red onions with a twist of lime and pink & black peppercorns pickled in red wine vinegar. Hope to see you there!”

Chilli sauces – Chilli Brothers Nathalie says “We have some wonderful artisan sauces & vibrant chilli fruit condiments for these lovely summer afternoons & evenings.  Works with charcuterie, cheese, salads, marinades, dips, dressings, and desserts. Come down for some local discounts!”

Local growing project – Patchwork Farm They’re back! Marina says “Make new friends, learn new skills, Join the Patchwork Farm crew! Coffee  – Brewtal Coffee   Neil has told us he’s been asking his regulars at the Chocolate Shop to help sift his roasted coffee. He’s not worried about admitting that he got a little over excited about his new Ethiopian coffee [bless him] when roasting last week down at the Brewtal Roastery.  He said he smelt his beans in the trier as they came good in the drum, and knew they were cooked perfectly.  But instead of dumping them into his drying tray at the perfect moment, he pulled the wrong lever and emptied waiting raw coffee coffee into the drum with it.  [Oops!]  He can see the funny side of most stuff though and has said if you want to help sift some down at the stall this weekend he’ll give you a discount on your purchase.

Natural Wines – Wine Scouts    Pedro says “Helloooooo! This Saturday I’ll open a beautiful, volcanic white wine from Hungary. The Hétszölö Dry Furmint: pear, quince and white peach combine with a dash of sage to give a pure, crispy and distinctive wine. Elegant acidity and minerality. The wine is already charming in its young age but has nice ageing potential too. Today all of the Hétszőlő’s vineyards are cultivated organically and the vinification is made with indigenous yeasts.”

Smokery – London Smoke & Cure  Ross says “I’ll be back on the stall and I’m bringing a full haul with me to make your weekend extra tasty. Most excitingly there’ll be a new batch of amazing real pastrami in the smoker overnight so come early if you want it still warm. Alongside that we’ll also be bringing a full range of extra dry smoked bacon, some beautiful smoked fish and of course an amazing selection finest UK cheeses at some of the best prices in London.”  Call Ross – 07837 838 241 for any pre-orders.

Storecupboard refills – The Store Cupboard  Laura says “We’ve just unpacked our biggest ever delivery, so we are FULLY stocked with all the wholesome goodness. One of the reasons the order was so large is we’re now able to order more products in 25 litre bags, which means they come in sewn up paper rather than plastic. We’ve been working towards this for a long time. Yah!”  Plus, you can pay by card.

Meat – Gill Wing Farm   Andrew says “I’ve got some amazing 42 days maturing steaks, tripled minced ground beef great for burgers, minute steaks. Lamb chops, legs ideal for butterflying, minced lamb for your burgers, koffta pork belly steaks,  traditional sausages, wild garlic sausages, merguez, and nice plump chicken – breast drums and thighs.”

Fish – Veasey’s Dan says “Keep your fins crossed for some decent weather because we will have some more BBQ ready seafood, some stunning whole bream & bass.
