Lots of picnic food this week at the market. Get your shopping done early, grab yourself some picnic food and avoid all those queues at the festival!
Flowers – Into the Wild – seasonal British flowers from Jenny. “Fresh from a week at Berlin school of flowers “Into the Wild” brings you bespoke hand tie bouquets – each one unique and made solely of British grown flowers. This week we have the last of the seasons peonies and lupins alongside alliums, fresh mint, alstroemeria and honeysuckle.”
Lunch & deli – Comfort & Joy Hot tasty wraps, salads and those famous (enormous) scotch eggs plus takeaways – curries, lasagne and more. Great picnic food to take away.
Lunch vegan – Return to Shashamane Get a takeaway homemade vegan meal for the festival. “Salads & sauces – chickpea salad with lettuce & cashew dressing; kidney beans with cardamom seeds and fresh tarragon; butter beans toasted with seeds and herbs; Mexican cabbage salad with herbs, chillies and onion; polenta chips; coriander chimmichurri sauce; quinoa salad. Hot – butter beans puree; spicy sauce with cayenne pepper; lentil tikka masala stew.”
Cakes –Brett & Bailey Matt will be on hand with a berry-laden Victoria sponge, chocolate Guinness cake, white chocolate and passionfruit cheesecake, sticky buns, cardamom knots, triple chocolate cookies, raspberry ripple bomboloni, blueberry and lemon bakewells, salted chocolate brownies, and maybe a raft of peanut butter bars too. Coffee – Brewtal Coffee Neil says a big thank you to all his customers as always for their continued support….he tells us he’s got his Ethiopia down to 11 mins 22 seconds now in the drum…whatever that means we’re not sure….he says though it just keeps getting fruitier and fruitier….in an apricot way!

Bread – Levain Bakery Ciabatta, ciabattini, walnut and raisin bread, olive bread, 5 cereals, green olive bread sticks, Danish rugbrod, tomato and oregano, Paillassou, pain de Meteil, spelt, Kentish flute, belle pavot, white loaf, wholemeal loaf, focaccia, rye sour, cottage cob. Chris Masembe and his team at Levain Bakery have a simple philosophy; to make artisan breads to the highest possible standards. All breads are sourdoughs, and are made using their own sourdough starter, a labour of love which they have kept going since they first started the bakery. Find Orlo or Kuba on the bread stall in the courtyard.
