DOMALI’S  HAS CLOSED

Domali, the popular restaurant and bar on Westow Street has closed – latest victim of the economic recession.

The news came in a shock announcement yesterday (Monday October 1st) on Crystal Palace Local Facebook from Domali’s  Alison Mcnaught who said:  “We have a very sad announcement. “With a very Big ‘Thank you’ to our amazing staff and community.”

A full statement then goes on to say:

After serving the community for 22 years and watching Crystal Palace develop into London’s best neighbourhood, we have taken the difficult decision to close Domali.

The economic conditions of the past year have made it challenging for us to continue to serve the quality food and drink our customers expect while keeping our prices affordable.

We have met so many wonderful people, have watched children grow up and relationships flourish, and have seen the community come together again and again to stand up for what this area represents – a unique and independent village full of character and integrity.

We are truly proud to have been a part of it.

We hope this isn’t a good-bye but a “see you later” as we contemplate our next steps.

With gratitude,
Dom & Al

Among the first reactions on Facebook:

Jane Matthews No! Alison, my heart is breaking for you. Domali is one of the best things in Crystal Palace. Wishing you both well with future ventures, J xxxx

Cameron McLeod Really sorry to hear this, but want to say thanks for being a great place to go to since we’ve been in CP, and wish you both every success with whatever’s next

Louise Enticknap Oh no, what a big loss to the triangle. Domali was our first port of call when we arrived in CP 17 years ago and has been our favourite all that time. Thanks, and good luck with your next venture.

Anaam Zen Oh no no no no!! not Domali! 😦

Gillìan Kìrby This is sadly going to keep happening. Really hard for independent businesses as everyone is tightening their belts at the moment!
