NO MONEY TO SPEND ON ESTATES AND LIBRARIANS? SO WHERE’S THE MONEY GOING?: £128 MILLION ON TEMPORARY AGENCY WORKERS / £19 MILLION ON A LEISURE CONTRACT / £139 MILLION ON A PROCUREMENT PROGRAMME….IT’S THE LATEST INSTALMENT OF THE WHY? FACTOR.

On their official website Lambeth council have a section headed ‘Council contract opportunities – guide’. The details given come under the heading ‘Three-year procurement plan’ but some contracts are for shorter periods, some for longer periods with one contract not scheduled to start until January 2023.

Under their current contracts Lambeth council are spending a MASSIVE £128 MILLION on temporary agency workers.

The council – which continues to insist it does not have money to pay for full-time librarians or repair council estates so they have to demolish them instead -is also spending £19 MILLION on a leisure contract covering the same period AND £139 MILLION on a procurement programme in the south of the borough.
