Four ‘Cellos – Free Concert at St John’s Upper Norwood

St John the Evangelist

Who doesn’t love the ’cello? With a rich, warm sound that can make a room vibrate, it’s perhaps the instrument that most resembles the human voice, with exquisite high notes and sonorous deep notes and the most perfect middle range. At our free Coffee Concert on Saturday 1st December you’ll have the chance to hear a quartet of celli in a programme full of fabulous music designed to showcase this stunning instrument. Do come along and enjoy some delicious cake and coffee as well, and that will set you up for a bit of Christmas shopping!

No need to book, just put it in your diary and turn up on the day. Coffee and cake served from 11.00am with concert starting at 11.30am.

Tickets FREE. Donations to SJUN

Thanks to the LMP Friends for supporting this concert.

Free beer and money off your shopping with south London’s premier slackers

That’s right, free beer, 10 per cent off your shopping and a knees up with south London’s premier slackers, Dulwich Raider and Dirty South, as they kick back and enjoy the view of the Wetherspoons across the road.

Leading slacker website, Deserter, publishes unique portraits of South London neighbourhoods alongside libertarian lifestyle pieces. ‘Today South London, Tomorrow South London’ is a collection of these excursions capturing the people, places and unlikely pleasures south of the river.
On urban adventures and off-beat days out, the authors, under their noms de plumes Dulwich Raider and Dirty South, explore South London’s ignored and unfashionable marvels.

With trips to cemeteries, galleries, hospitals, Wetherspoon pubs and the Old Kent Road branch of Staples, this (alt) guide of the area is a snapshot of a pivotal period in a time of regeneration and gentrification. It will explore how, despite these changes, the magic, the **** and the glitter still endures. And it’s free. (Source: Bookseller Crow)
