WHY LAMBETH’S GREEN PARTY OPPOSITION LEADER GOT A CHRISTMAS CARD FROM JEREMY CORBYN (“If any Cabinet members want to see what a card from Jeremy looks like, come and see me afterwards”) – AND DID LIB PECK SNUB MP KATE HOEY?
Lambeth council’s Green party opposition leader revealed at the council’s latest meeting that among the Christmas cards he received was one from Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Cllr Jon Bartley, thanking Mayor of Lambeth Cllr Christopher Wellbelove for his Christmas card, added: “It has been sitting in the Green group office alongside the one from Jeremy Corbyn. “If any Cabinet members want to see what a card from Jeremy looks like, come and see me afterwards.”
Cllr Bartley told News From Crystal Palace: “We have had some encouraging signals from Jeremy’s office about standing up to Lambeth Labour and what they are doing in Lambeth (as you prob know Lambeth Labour are quite opposed to Jeremy).”
DID COUNCIL LEADER SNUB KATE HOEY MP?
In her cabinet statement Cllr Lib Peck said they were meeting at a time of great uncertainty. This was a reference to Brexit. She thanked “our two excellent MPs” Helen Hayes (Lab, Dulwich and West Norwood) and Chuka Umunna (Lab, Streatham). But not Kate Hoey (Lab, Vauxhall). Was this just because of Kate Hoey’s strong Brexit views?
