CakesBrett and Bailey  Joe says “Oh, dear, it looks like yet another windy weekend. But you can lift your spirits by blowing down to the market to pick up some delectable, handmade, very special sweet stuff from yours truly. Expect to find us trading from our orange van again.

This week we’ve been busy developing a brand new jam flavour – tangy forced rhubarb from Yorkshire, paired with the sweet warmth of pink pepper, for a real treat on your toast. It’s perfect in porridge too. We’ll also have plenty of marmalade, pear and ginger jam, raspberry and violet, and apricot and vanilla, but we’re down to our last half a dozen jars of each of the plum and rose, and blueberry and bourbon. Snaffle yours quick. They’ll all be tucked away in the van somewhere, so do ask us if you’d like to taste.
Cake-wise we’ll have Blue Velvet, coffee and Brazil nut cake with vanilla latte butter and Brazil brittle, chocolate Guinness, double carrot, and a baked raspberry swirl cheesecake. There’ll also be rhubarb crumble, raspberry bakewells, plenty of buns, semlor, brownies, triple chocolate cookies, and there may well be some peanut butter bars getting in on the action too.

Need a whole cake next weekend? Order by 6pm Wednesday and we’ll have it ready for you to collect from the stall.  See you soon!”

Storecupboard refills – The Store Cupboard Laura says “We have nooch back in stock! (Nooch – street name for traditional yeast. Apparently – Ed.) It’s a tricky one for us, because the minimum wholesale unpackaged order is 25 kilograms.  With nooch being so light and fluffy, 25kg is such an enormous box we don’t have room to store it in our little shop.  Thanks to fellow zero waster Tanya from BYO Tooting for ordering the nooch and arranging splitting it between three shops.  Legend.”  Follow us on Instagram, Twitter or FacebookThe Store Cupboard is also open Wednesdays 2-7 & Sundays 11-4.

Natural wines – Wine Scouts   Pedro says “Hello! These weeks are biting cold, so this Saturday we will taste a full-bodied, warming red wine from the Pyrenees in Southern France, the Ollieux Romanis Corbieres Rouge Cuvee Prestige. It has rich, concentrated fruit flavours of black cherries, cocoa butter and spice, with oh so silky tannins and a fine well balanced finish. Aged in wood for about fifteen months the Cuvee Prestige is a blend of Carignan, from 100yr old vines along with Grenache and Mourvedre and a splash of Syrah. Oh and it is organic. Come taste!”
