A 17-year-old male from Canning Town has appeared in court charged with the murder of 16-year-old Shanur Ahmed (pictured above) whose father runs the hugely popular Eastern Cuisine in Gipsy Hill.
The youth was charged on Saturday, 7 March with murder, affray and possession of an offensive weapon. He appeared in custody at Stratford magistrates court on Monday, 9 March and was remanded in custody (next court venue and date awaits).
An appeal has been set up on the just.giving page to raise funds for the Safer London charity which reads:
“We are friends and customers of Shanur’s father Sharif who runs Eastern Cuisine restaurant and takeaway in Gipsy Hill in SE19. “We are the other side of London from where Sharif, his wife Fatema and sons Sharfaraz and Shanur made a home but as friends, neighbours and Londoners we are his community and this loss has shaken us all.”
So far more than £300 has been raised. Comments include:
Sharif of Eastern Cuisine is a friend and an amazing contributor to the community in Gipsy Hill and Crystal Palace. His loss affects us all.
A sad loss. Wishing strength and hope to Sharif and his family.
This family is a much valued part of the Crystal Palace community and we will try and be there for you. This project is a small positive step.
