Food market: CHEERS! Antenna cafe selling wine and beer again… and: AW, SHUCKS! Veasey’s fish stall now selling Oysters!

It’s all about collaborations

One of the things we are most proud about at the market is that it is the result of many collaborations – with all our stallholders, with all the other traders around Haynes Lane and often with our customers, too.  But our longest collaboration is with Antenna Studios, who determined the market’s location by offering us the use of its car park on Saturdays as Jacob, who was running the studios at the time, wanted to support organic farming.  Interestingly, he is now running his own organic farm in Scotland.

We are now working collaboratively with Antenna again to create more of a cafe vibe in their courtyard and have some exciting news:

  • Cafe Antenna is now licensed and you’re able to get wine and beer as well as their teas and Sons of Thunder organic coffees.
  • We’ve added more seating outside along the courtyard wall (see pic above).
  • Veasey’s fish stall now offers freshly shucked oysters to order, plus other prepared seafood, which you can now enjoy with a glass of white.
  • The return of galettes.  We’re trialling a new Galette stall, Sarrisan, at the beginning of May, which will located outside the old cafe with the hope that it will lead to a longer collaboration.
  • Marcelo’s Vegan icecream will be making regular appearances from the middle of May.

If you decide to join us to sit in the courtyard cafe, with whatever food you wish to bring along, the only stipulation is that you purchase a drink or two from Cafe Antenna, alcoholic or not.   Collaboration again. 😉

GUESTS AND NEIGHBOURS

Fruition Preserves Preserves, ketchup, granola, award winning marmalade and more from local Wendy, who says, ‘Yay, we’ll be back with you this Saturday after missing our March slot. We’ll have a good selection of our low sugar fruit compotes, with the Rhubarb & Ginger and Rhubarb & Orange as the stars of the show: both made with Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb, they are tangy and full of flavour and have a wonderful natural pink colour.  Great for Spring breakfasts with yoghurt and our handmade super crunchy granola.

We are also fully stocked with 4 varieties of ketchup and our lovely homemade marmalades – bitter-sweet Seville Orange and our zesty Sicilian Lemon. We also have a small batch of our Red Onion Marmalade and Cucumber & Onion Pickle – both are perfect with cheese. Looking forward to seeing you all.’

The white Selection Massale Chardonnay, made bu thev talented Dan Gillett in Marlborough in New Zealand has aromas of toasted chestnut and lemon curd and key lime on the palate. This is a rich, textural Chardonnay with great concentration of flavour and palate weight. For this rich, textural Chardonnay, Dan sourced fruit from the Brawn, Kennedy Road and Orchard Vineyards in Wairau Valley.

The red Le Vin Est Une Fête Côtes Marmandais is made by the iconic producer Elian da Ros in southern France. This wine has a nose full of scents of sweet cherries, cassis and toasted oak. On the palate, it is ripe and plummy with plenty of juicy acidity, with notes of spicy red fruits leading to a lingering finish. ‘Fete Rouge’ is a a blend of 60% Merlot plus equal quantities of Arbouriou and Cabernet Franc. Delicious!.”
